UCan Play and its MD, Dr Jonathan Savage, make three appearances in this month’s Music Teacher magazine.
Firstly, Dr Savage wrote a critical feature on the ABRSM’sĀ Making Music report. A summary of his thoughts can be found online here. The report is a mixed bag, with a limited underpinning research methodology and, in summary, is ‘tantalising by omission’.
Secondly, the work of UCan.tv (the consultancy wing of UCan Play) was featured in an article about the new primary music curriculum edited by UCan.tv and written and produced by the Love Music Trust. This has been selling well in primary schools across the UK and we were delighted to have this work featured in this prestigious magazine.
Finally, there was a brief reference to the new project that we are engaged in with NYMAZ and the University of Hull. The research, backed by the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts is commencing this week and will last for one year. We have putĀ together a video streaming technology solution built around Roland’s VR-3EX audio and video mixer/streamer to explore how instrumental music lessons can be delivered to schools in remote parts of North Yorkshire.
So, three pieces about our work supporting music education here in the UK in one magazine! If you are needing support in any way to help develop your education provision, we are here to help. Feel free to contact us to discuss how we can collaborate. This is what we do best.
