UCan Play is proud to be a ‘not for profit’ company. We are often asked what this means so thought we’d write a short explanation here and highlight three of the key ways that we share our profits to support music education in the United Kingdom.
As a not for profit company, we don’t have any shareholders. We pay no dividends and the directors of the company receive no bonuses. Any profits we do make have to be used to support music education here in the UK.
The main ways we do this are as follows:
- By keeping our prices below ‘street’ price and ensuring that our customers get a great price together with personalised service;
- By running key initiatives to share profits with our partners. These include:
- The Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme with profit sharing for state schools, music services and music education hubs;
- The London Instrument Program for Schools for independent schools run in collaboration with Restore the Music UK;
- Independent School Partnerships for all independent schools across the United Kingdom.
- By making charitable grants to music education organisations across the United Kingdom.
