2015 NAMM Show - Media Preview Day

Roland’s new product range for 2016 contains some beautiful, and perhaps even iconic, new products. For our principle customer base, educators and students, there are some really exciting new items and one that is, at least to our knowledge, unique!

Starting with the pianos, we love the look of the new FP-30, featured here in this performance by singer songwriter Tom Crouch:

The piano has a loads of functions that will be perfectly suited to educational settings, including bluetooth wireless connectivity to apps such as Garageband, and is priced at the same point as Roland’s F20 which has sold brilliant over the last year.

Whilst we are discussing pianos, it is hard not to fall in love with the new Roland Kiyola. Priced at the other end of their piano range, it is probably not going to be a piano for school use, but how cool would this look in your house! Kiyola translates as ‘elegance’ or ‘beauty’. It certainly is that and it sounds amazing too:

Moving away from pianos, perhaps the new Roland product that caught our eye most is their new digital hybrid Cajon – the El Cajon. The EC-10 allows cajon players to easily enhance their music with layered electronic sounds. As well as being an authentic acoustic cajon that sounds great on its own, it has Roland’s renowned electronic percussion technology built in, letting you blend a range of complementary sounds with the cajon voice, from traditional percussion like tambourine and shaker to acoustic snare, electronic drums, sound effects, and more. Completely self-contained with battery power and onboard amplification, the EC-10 EL Cajon puts the dynamic world of hybrid percussion in the hands of every cajon enthusiast. We can’t wait to try out this new cajon in our studio, but for now here’s a taster with Heidi Joubert:

More conventionally, Roland have released a couple of new amplifiers. After a new bluetooth speaker? Why not consider the stylish JC-01 which picks up on themes from their legendary Jazz Chorus amplifier. Their new Blues Cube Hot brings another alternative for guitarists.

Finally, for those of you in analogue or digital synthesis, Roland’s new modular SYSTEM-500 is a fully analog modular synthesizer inspired by two of the most revered electronic instruments of all time. Made for Eurorack format, it’s a complete system with multiple oscillators, filters and effects in a versatile custom case with top-quality patch cables.

So, all in all, an impressive array of new products from Roland. You can find preferential prices on all these items here. You’ll need to register on our site to access these.
