Sandbach Then & Now is a new community project being run by UCan Play, supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund with additional funding from UCan Play.
During 2016, school children, and then the general public, will be able to explore the heritage of Sandbach associated with the First World War through a geocache trail and linked virtual resources. The trail and resources will allow users to appreciate more fully the contribution that Sandbach, its people, places and buildings, made to the First World War. Following their experience of the trail, workshops will be held in schools and at the UCan Studios that allow participants to reflect on their experience and represent them in various art forms. The project will conclude with a celebration event with music, video and live performances. A written guide about the project and how to replicate it will also be written for communities wishing to undertake a similar project.
UCan Play will like to hear from any Sandbach residents with memories from the First World War period, or stories related to previous generations of Sandbachians who contributed to the First World War in any way. Please contact Sam Marsden, the project leader, at sam@ucanplay.org.uk. Other forms of contact can be found on our website at www.sandbachthenandnow.org.uk.
