NYMAZ032

Those of you who are regular visitors to this site will remember that last year UCan Play worked with NYMAZ, North Yorkshire Music Service and the University of Hull to explore and implement a technical solution to hep instrumental music teachers teach their instruments online. This was trialled through our work with primary schools in geographically isolated parts of North Yorkshire.

During the summer, the partnership applied for further funding from the Arts Council to explore this approach more widely in other parts of the UK. This work began in October and is beginning to reach its peak. We are currently working in partnership with music education hubs and other organisations in Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, Northumberland, Cumbria and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

UCan Play staff have been travelling around the country delivering training sessions for music staff on our specially designed live streaming kit that is built around Roland’s VR3-EX. You can see UCan Play’s MD – Jonathan Savage – exploring how the kit works and how it is put together here.

Further information about the project and a huge resource base to help you develop your own approaches can be found here. Through our partnership with NYMAZ, we can also advise your organisation about how to develop its work in this area. Dissolve JazzLab did this last year and we are coming to the end of a brilliant project with them having supported workshops in Bournemouth and Coventry.

Please get in touch to start a conversation. As part of our work with you, we are happy to contribute our knowledge and advice about fundraising and help you write a bid for funds to support your own work in this area. Who knows where it might lead!
