Studio-One-3-ProfessionalPreSonus is a company on the move. Recent developments their hardware, audio interfaces, digital mixers and PA systems amongst other items, have been met by universal approval. One of the reasons why we are happy to promote their equipment to our partners is the beautiful integration between the hardware and software that underpins its use.

Our reviewer, Paul Dormer, loved Studio One v.2. So, it was with considerable excitement that we read the news of the release of Studio One 3 this week. Our copies arrived a few days ago and we have really enjoyed playing with the new software. Here’s a quick overview:

It’s hard to know where to start with all the new features. Key things that we noted immediately were:

  • The new Arranger Track with unlimited Scratch Pads – great for trying out new ideas quickly and easily;
  • New virtual nstruments Presence XT and Mai Tai (love the name!) with over 15 GB of content to get your creative ideas flowing;
  • Powerful multi-instruments and extended FX chains with parallel processing;
  • New note FXs including an arpeggiator, chorder and repeater;
  • A redesigned user Interface (but with the same, simple drag and drop approach) with iPad remote and multi-touch support. This is the first cross-platform sequencer/DAW application providing multi-touch support. It opens a whole new range of uses, like running the Studio One console on a separate touch-enabled display. Brilliant. It just works.

The software, which is available for PC and Mac, can be ordered from us here at UCan Play with an educational discount. A full review from Paul will follow on this site shortly.

As with all the PreSonus products, the video support for the product is second to none. Here are the key videos that go into more detail about the new features of PreSonus’ Studio One 3.
